We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Bookkeeper to join a growing business within the fitness and wellness sector. Our client is a newly launched wellness facility focused on delivering high-quality, holistic experiences across areas such as fitness, recovery, nutrition, mindfulness and spa therapies. The business is positioned to become a leading destination for modern, results-driven wellness and lifestyle transformation.
The Basics:
● Salary: £40-£45k (pro rata)
● Working Hours: 20 hours per week
● Location: Notting Hill (no remote work)

The Role:
The Bookkeeper will take ownership of the day-to-day financial operations, ensuring that all records are accurate, up to date, and aligned with business needs. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is comfortable working across multiple finance functions and enjoys being a key point of contact for financial queries.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing the full accounts receivable (AR) cycle, including raising invoices, monitoring incoming payments, and following up on outstanding balances
Overseeing accounts payable (AP), ensuring supplier invoices are processed accurately, approved in a timely manner, and paid according to agreed terms
Processing high volumes of invoices through commonly used accounting software, maintaining accuracy and consistency
Performing regular bank and payment reconciliations, investigating and resolving any discrepancies
Maintaining the general ledger and ensuring all financial transactions are correctly recorded and coded
Supporting month-end close processes, including preparing reports and assisting with financial summaries
Managing payroll processes, including preparing and processing payroll, ensuring accuracy of employee payments, and maintaining payroll records
Liaising with external payroll providers where applicable, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and deadlines
Supporting the administration of employee expenses and benefits, ensuring accurate recording and timely reimbursement
Collaborating with internal stakeholders (e.g. operations, front-of-house, and management teams) to ensure smooth financial workflows
Assisting with improving and streamlining financial processes where possible
This role requires strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise effectively, and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced environment.
The Person:
The ideal candidate will be a meticulous and dependable finance professional who takes pride in producing accurate work and contributing to a positive team environment. They will be comfortable working both independently and collaboratively, with the confidence to take ownership of their responsibilities.
Key Attributes + Experiences:
Proven experience in a bookkeeping or similar finance role, with hands-on responsibility for AR, AP, and payroll processes
Strong working knowledge of commonly used accounting software (e.g. Xero, QuickBooks, or similar), particularly for invoice processing, reconciliation, and payroll integration
Experience managing payroll end-to-end, with a good understanding of relevant regulations and compliance requirements
High level of attention to detail, with the ability to spot errors and inconsistencies quickly
A diligent and methodical approach to tasks, with excellent organisational and time management skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines without compromising accuracy
Strong communication skills, with the confidence to liaise with colleagues, suppliers, and external partners
A proactive mindset, with a willingness to suggest improvements and support wider business needs
A genuine interest in the fitness and wellness industry, and enthusiasm for being part of a brand in this space
Additional requirements:
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualification preferred.
Experience: 2+ years in a similar role, preferably within the fitness, wellness, or hospitality sector.
Software Proficiency: Advanced skills in Xero and MS Excel.
Knowledge of UK Accounting Standards: Strong understanding of UK GAAP, IFRS, VAT, PAYE, and pension regulations.
